I saw a national organization being launched, with press releases, a large media buy, a great-looking website, and a great idea. This organization decided to put their website on the .ORG TLD, which is just fine. But do you know that they failed to do?</p>
<p>They failed to spend $7 and register the dot com and the dot net TLD.</p>
<p>Yes, folks, that is my lesson for today. If you decide to put your website on the .org TLD and the .com and the .net is available, then you absolutely must register the .com and the .net and redirect those to the .org with a 301 Permanent Redirect. If not, someone will come along and register that name in the .com and possibly in the .net TLD.</p>
<p>For some reason, we are just used to typing in the .com TLD and not the .org. It&#8217;s just one of those things that happen, when we think of a site we type in the .com first and then, if it&#8217;s not there, we will search for it.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, someone is currently using the .com of media guru, so I had to put up this blog on the .org TLD.</p>

<p>Online advertising began mainly with newsletters in the form of emails or pop-up screens containing pure text and some inanimate pictures. As internet users became more and more accustomed to surfing the web these newsletters and pop-up advertisements gradually turned into annoyances. Marketing newsletters started to look like junk mail and pop-up screens became similar to billboard advertisements that you see every day. Also, pop-up screens disturbs the rhythm of internet surfing. There you are browsing away when you see a link or article which you decide to follow or read. Just as you are about to click on it or just as you are in the middle of reading it, the pop-up appears and displaces your current browser window behind it.</p>
<p>In short, these common forms of advertising soon became major annoyances in most cases that anti-virus software developers soon added anti pop-up features in their products thereby drastically reducing the number of consumers that these pop-ups were able to reach. To add emphasis to the drive against pop-up advertising windows, Mozilla developed a built-in anti-pop up utility into their web browser, Firefox. Just as the pop-window is about to open, Firefox immediately denies the opening of this new browser window. Today, you rarely see pop-up screens on your computer as you browse the web.</p>
<p>This is where streaming video comes in. It is undisputed that television commercials are still the best way to attract attention. The advertiser needs to make the product look good in TV, but their primary objective is to attract the consumer&#8217;s attention. <p>But before you think posting video blogs is just something teenagers do - think again. There&#8217;s a huge audience out there watching video clips right now - and if yours is catchy or unique enough - you&#8217;ll see a stampede of traffic to your website in a very short time.</p>
<p>But how do you make a video people will want to watch? And how do you add it to your website and to video sharing sites? Here&#8217;s how:</p>
<p><strong>1. Don&#8217;t make it into a sales pitch</strong> - No one wants to hear about how great your product is: unless you can show it in a way that puts a twist on the normal marketing campaign. <p>1. Shoot outside - you get great light and your video will have more eye appeal and energy than a static inside setting.</p>
<p>2. Be Casual and Fun - some of the best videos we&#8217;ve shot have been fun and lighthearted. Remember, even when people are looking for information and knowledge they still want to be entertained.</p>
<p>3. Don&#8217;t be Boring - more of the keep them entertained rule!</p>

Watch for Too Much Noise - we shot a few videos down by the beach because we wanted people thinking about relaxing and having a beach lifestyle, but we were too close to the water and the ambient noise of the waves made it almost impossible to hear the speaker, so we had to reshoot farther away. Be sure you can get good sound quality and don&#8217;t forget how noisy the wind can be!</p>
<p>6. Stay away from distracting backgrounds - you want the focus of your video to be your primary subject, so be sure not to have a background that is too busy, loud or filled with so much activity that it takes the viewer&#8217;s attention away from your primary subject and message.</p>
<p>7. Have a Beginning, Middle and End - great filmmakers know that all successful movies have a beginning, middle and end. Your videos should be no different. Start by telling them what you&#8217;re going to tell them, this is the set-up for what comes next. In the middle, you want to give them whatever information or message you want to deliver. Then at the end, you can have a call to action where you try to get them to do something you want them to do, like go to your website for more info, or eat fewer candy bars or whatever. They won&#8217;t do it unless you ask them. Make your ending a call to action.</p>
